Welcome to the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division's Grant Portal
At the Outdoor Recreation Division, we believe everyone deserves access to the outdoors—whether it’s a hike close to home, a cultural learning experience, or a trail that connects communities.

Our grant programs invest in the people, places, and programs that make outdoor access possible—from youth outdoor education and cultural connection programs to trails, infrastructure, and stewardship efforts that support local economies. These opportunities help ensure that New Mexicans of all backgrounds—including those in rural, Tribal, and historically underserved communities—can experience the physical, mental, cultural, and economic benefits of time spent outdoors.

Below is a list of currently open funding opportunities. We encourage eligible organizations to apply and join us in shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant outdoor future for New Mexico.

Access to the outdoors is a fundamental human right — yet it’s one that many of our youth have historically been denied. This lack of opportunity has prevented underrepresented kids from experiencing some of New Mexico’s greatest treasures: its outdoor spaces.

The Outdoor Equity Fund will open for applications on January 1, 2025, for the final round of funding for fiscal year 2026. The grant supports transformative outdoor experiences that foster stewardship and respect for our lands, waters, and cultural heritage.

Access to the outdoors should be low-cost and ubiquitous for all New Mexicans. That’s why lawmakers created the Outdoor Recreation Trails+. This grant program supports projects that enhance communities’ outdoor recreation opportunities. Trails, river parks, wildlife viewing areas, and more contribute to economic development, prosperity, and wellness. This grant funds ready to implement projects that directly add to that access.
